Change we must!

Hi there friends!

We had a very good gig at Marosvásárhely in the Jazz&Blues Club, with so much energy on the stage and so many behind-the-scenes feelings. I think this fact made this show so important to us and so special, musically and emotionally as well.

Our music is about impossibilities, struggle and sometimes catharsis. We had to realize that being part of- or leading an eight members group it can be the hardest thing... and we do this as a "part time" thing, eight people, each of us living our own lives, having our own struggles and problems, and sometimes different dreams.

Kinga decided to leave the band, and I really don't know what is harder, to leave or to be left. Big lifetime questions for sure. We all are sad for her leaving, but all we can do is to understand her and to wish her success for her next projects and dreams!

Timi also left the band, for professional reasons. She had to chose between classical music (her profession) and progressive rock. Sadly it is so hard to concentrate on two different singing techniques, when you are learning the classical techniques this needs 100% of you.

What's next? It is time to re-think all our thoughts and ideas about being a band, to draw conclusions about what needs to be changed and how to work, how to deal with the time problems and of course human and emotional things. A big lesson to everyone of us.

So, dear friends, this is where we are right now and one thing is sure: the second Yesterdays album is on its way and in my opinion it will be different from the Holdfénykert album. More electric and more eclectic, but of course with the same Yesterdays feel. The next task is to find the voices, to come out with a new line-up and to WORK, WORK, WORK :).

You'll hear the results soon...

"Change we must, to live again..." (Jon Anderson)

Wishing all the best to you in the name of the band,
Ákos

Dear Friends, we are glad to inform You that our Spaghetti Epic called "Suite Pauline" is completed and sent to the record company (Colossus Magazine and Musea Records). Love and winter... fear and pain... finding and losing the One... tragedy. Big thanks to all of You for your encouragement and patience, love and expectation, invested work and Faith! Soon, our Friends, soon....

Ákos, Zsolt, Dave, Zoltán, Misu and Tibi

The final night in the studio, Tibi mixing the Spaghetti Epic.

6th September 2007

Here's a "behind the scenes" footage of the trumpet recordings for"Suite Pauline". Mihai Sorohan did several fantastic takes for this prog epic, it was a bit painful to choose the best one :). You'll find the final result on the 3rd Spaghetti Epic (Colossus/MUSEA release in December 2007)!

29th August 2007

Only a few extra takes and our Spaghetti Epic called "Suite Pauline" is ready for mixing! In Dave's words: we released a real monster... the Spaghetti Monster, a sometimes gentle, sometimes brutal creature, showing the other side of Yesterdays, the real heavy-progressive side, 7 musicians working together on a fantastic project... It was a pleasant journey to the cold land of the "Great Silence" movie! The following musicians were involved making this suite:

Bazsó Tibor - sound engineer and fantastic ideas
Bogáti-Bokor Ákos - lead- and backing vocals, guitars, electric sitar, Mellotron, Fender Rhodes and additional crazy bass lines
Enyedi Zsolt - piano, Mellotron, Hammond organ, Korg MS2000, MicroKorg, MiniMoog, church organ
Kolumbán Zoltán - bass guitar
Kozma Kis Emese - flute
Mihai Sorohan - trompet
David Speight - drums

24th August 2007

We did it! Dave was fantastic. "Suite Pauline" and the Inferno tracks are ready now for the last bass-recording sessions! Soon you'll hear these progressive epics! :)

8th August 2007

SPECIAL NEWS! We've just finished the writing process of the Spaghetti Epic, we already started the recording process hopefully it will be ready for the deadline :)! Parallel to that we also wrote a new song for the Inferno project, it turned out a very proggy little song with beautyful analog keyboards, acoustic guitars, lots of mellotron soundscapes. We are very to have our new starchip trooper on board, David Speight (UK) on drums... and there are even more (POSITIVE!) surpises... :)

31st July 2007

Wow, what a gig it was at the Félsziget Festival! The show was recorded in HiFi, so beware, sooner or later it will be released on DVD.

3rd july 2007

Spaghetti Monster

We have just finished our suite for the third Spaghetti Epic CD by Colossus and Musea! The song is called "Pauline" and it has many analog instruments in it, lots of prog stuff, vocals, crazy keyboards, Howe-ish guitars (a la Relayer). Zsolt has just started to record the keyboard parts. We are very satisfied with the results, and looking forward to have this "monster" recorded! More news on this topic soon!

11th June 2007

A big interview with Zsolt in Progressive Newsletter!

29th May 2007

"Valahol a térben" (Somewhere in the Space...) - the first Yesterdays video from our first album "Holdfénykert"

17th May 2007

We made a fantastic progress on our new epic called Pauline for the next Spaghetti Epic album. There are strong Gentle Giant and Yes (Relayer) influences, polifonic vocals, heavy use of the MiniMoog, the analog KORG and the Hammond organ. We'll record it in July and the CD will be released this December by the Colossus Magazine and Musea Records!

1st May 2007

Hi there friends!
We had a wonderful time in Saint George Town (Sfintu Gheorghe / Romania) last weekend! Great show, fantastic audience, sunshine and our dear friend Dave Speight (Harmony In Diversity) on drums...
It is so interesting how people get involved in our music thanks to the internet, thanks to Myspace. Last autumn we were contacted by Dave Speight via Mysapce and last weekend we played together the hardest Yesterdays song Seven... with only one rehearsal on the day of the show... and it was a fantastic experience for the whole band. Joe gave his place to Dave and joined David in the percussion section, wow, it was just perfect!!! It's a pity that Timea could not come to play with us this time, we really missed her voice in the background vocals...
Another fun thing: Zsolt used my good old Roland EP75 for the Mellotron sound and we had to play the end of the song Hol vagy together on his keyboard stand with 4 hands :). I really enjoyed running across the stage to reach the keyboard stand in time :)))
Dave, we would like to thank you for your friendship and for your special humour... sorry for my absurd word-jokes (ha-ha-ha)... :) I am sure that this gig was only the beginning and we'll have the opportunity to play together more and more in the future!
We would like to thank Eszter and Tozsi for being our closest friends and biggest fans :)... and for the fantastic live photos!

As you probably all know, Dave will play on our second album too. We are so happy for this!!!
It's hard to start the everyday life after all these fantastic experiences, after this magical weekend...

28th March 2007

This is an excerpt from our first "Holdfénykert" show (22nd October 2006)

The famous ProGGnosis just published a brand new review of our new CD "Holdfénykert" (Moonlit Garden), check it out here!

21st December 2006

To All Our Dear Friends,

Somewhere it is written: -

"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as if there is no such thing as a miracle. The other as if we are surrounded by miracles"

Whilst remembering what is behind us, I am looking forward to the life that is before us. I am watching the Moon and the stars. I feel the breeze and touch the little orange flowers, still spreading their colourful joy in this strange December.

I can feel the Miracle.

Yes! This year was a Miracle of its own: creating and performing together, releasing our music, old and new friendships, fantastic supporters, tears and laughter, and healing.

The Light!

I hope the miracle, the rebirth, the wisdom and the love will come into the life of us all. Take care of the Light inside you; take care of everyone, who laid their happiness in your hands.

May you carry the Miracle of the Christmas Festival with you into your whole Life.

Zsolt

13rd December 2006

Along with our dear friends from the Netherlands, Flamborough Head we are looking forward to this wonderful event of progressive rock music!

If you read this, please "Spread the news and help the world go 'round" (Yes: Time and a Word) :)

Have you heard of a time that will help us get it together again?
Have you heard of the word that will stop us going wrong?
Well, the time is near the word you'll hear
When you get things in perspective.
Spread the news and help the word go round.

(Yes: "Time and a word")

Although we were very tired, it was a SOLD OUT gig in Budapest (F.M.H. Club). Clear sound, colourful lights and a little light symphonic prog... The audience was fantastic, the cought the mood of our music, some people were crying... Thank you all for coming and supporting us! Here are some pictures from the gig, taken by Matusa István.

4th December 2006

On the 2nd December Ákos and Zsolt performed a "mikrogig" in Nagykároly (Carei - Romania) at the final of the 10th Anniversary MATURUS competition (Organised by the SAY-YES Foundation). They played the title track from the new Yesterdays album, but in a different way, on electric guitar and with a special intro taken from Trion's first album "Tortoise", with this "Edo-intro", a special tribute to our Dutch friend Edo Spanninga!

30th November 2006

Fantastic news!!! We were kindly asked by Marco Bernard (Colossus Magazine) to join the next project of Musea and Colossus: "The Spaghetti Epic 3"

"The Spaghetti Epic 3" will be based/inspired by Sergio Corbucci's "The Great Silence", one of the best and most unusual spaghetti Westerns ever made, set in the beautiful desolation of the snow-covered high plains. Jean-Louis Trintignant, the romantic French star of My Night at Maud's and A Man and a Woman (what a coincidence... this film's main theme music was rearranged and performed as a bonus track on our first Yesterdays EP "A Whole Half"...), hardens his blue eyes into a steely stare to play the mute mercenary gunslinger "Silence." Klaus Kinski (star of Werner Herzog's Aguirre: The Wrath of God and Nosferatu the Vampyre) is his target, a grinning, amiable bounty killer whose deadly logic leaves a trail of corpses in his wake, all murdered "according to the law." Corbucci, whose Django is a genre classics, complicates his trademark cynicism with the compelling contradictions of his hero and villain, and the chilly atmosphere of the frozen mountain community brings a new twist to the phrase cold-blooded murder.

We'll have to create a suite of 20-25 minutes inspired by the film, using vintage/analogue instruments in a early 70's progressive style with strong classical baroque influences including "heavy" use of Hammond, piano, Mellotron, Minimoog, etc.

Cover artwork will be done by maestro Stefano Scagni and packaging artwork by Davide Guidoni. Final mastering will be done by Marco Olivotto at Sonica Studios in Italy. Synopsis and introduction to the project will be written by John Nudge.

It feels great being a part in such a wonderful project with other great progrock bands "on board" like Little Tragedies (Russia) and Signal To Noise. We've just started to put together some demos and lyrics (in Hungarian).

Release date: December 2007

24th November 2006

Wow, a CD review on Progwalhalla by Eric Neuteboom.

"YESTERDAYS - Holdfénykert

This is a Hungarian band with mainly Rumanian musicians, the current line-up features 10 band members including 3 women. Yesterdays is rooted in early 2000 and has already made a demo tape (entitled Come Dream With Me from 2002), a serie of CD's and even a DVD.

During the first part of this CD their sound is pleasant and folky inspired featuring lots of acoustic guitar and flute along a wonderful female voice with echoes from Annie Haslam. I am delighted about an acoustic guitar duet (twanging and solo) and the omnipresent violin-Mellotron waves. The second part of Holdenfenykert delivers a way more symphonic rock sound featuring fluent Moog runs and again beautiful Mellotron work. But we can also enjoy pure folk and I was very pleased with a duet from acoustic guitar and harpsichord, that distinctive vintage keyboard. My highlight is the long and alternating song entitled Seven: it starts with a fluent rhythm, Moog flights and Mellotron waves and mellow parts with warm female vocals, then a compelling piece with sensitive guitar and lush Mellotron. The final part begins with a flute solo and howling guitar runs and finally a sumptuous eruption with a swirling Hammond solo, great!

To me this sounds as a wonderful blend of folk and symphonic rock, very tasteful, this band will please both the prog-folk - as the symphonic prog fans."
